Local Earthworm Castings
Fresh local earthworm castings - highly recommended for any garden.
Worm castings are one of the most important soil amendments. As worms digest plant material, they refine it and create a nutrient-dense byproduct which contains minerals and trace elements. This byproduct is ideal for plants to uptake.
- Castings contain humic acid which aids in plant nutrient absorption and improves seed germination.
- The castings are rich in water-soluble plant nutrients, and contain more than 50% more humus than what is normally found in topsoil.
- Worm castings are packed with minerals that are essential for plant growth, such as concentrated nitrates, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and calcium.
Since worm castings often contain worm eggs and live worms, adding any amount can lead to continual worm habitation in your soil - which is a good thing!
